The bad and the ugly: 5 things to avoid in Costa Teguise

One of the major annoyances was people trying to distribute leaflets and stopping you on the promenade. I didn’t feel too hassled at all, and most of the people who stopped us were friendly and could speak a variety of languages. However, it can be a pain, and you have heard the same speech days before.

I also felt like I was in a mini England due to all the English pubs, bars, restaurants and English tourists around, as well as Irish pubs. I would prefer to have found more Spanish restaurants and to try more Spanish food and tapas. To avoid the international dishes, if you explore some of the streets off the main roads, you will likely come across some local cuisine.

There is one major point that needs to be mentioned. Avoid drinking the tap water over here, as it is not 100% safe and could give you a bad stomach. Instead, drink bottled water, and this can be bought cheaply in the supermarkets for 0.50 cents per bottle, or cheaper if bought in bulk. Within my apartment we had a fridge, so we could have a constant supply of cold water on the go.

Overall, I didn’t really have any annoyances about the resort. Some nights at the apartment we were staying in, Mansion Nazareth, music could be heard form the club next door, (Club 55) but this wasn’t extremely loud or annoying. Everyone we met seemed friendly, and I didn’t have any bad experiences.
